Hey guys.. i am back home..

Now for the report:
intended route: KL/Ulu Yam/Awana/ Bukit Tinggi/KL

I waited at the Ulu Yam Petronas at 8am, Andrew was late due to some stuff to do . Ganes was later coz he had to get his licence done first... expired lah.. we headed off 9amish. took the Ulu Yam, Awana route, played wif twisties, i was running at least 2 corners behind Andrew, riding slow in the corners, with some moderate traffic.

After breakfast teh at Awana mamak we decided to do Bukit Tinggi on the way back. i overshot the turn off... of course I would have to wont I... lol. didnt even see the guys waiting for me by the side
of the road, they caught up and we had to u turn, I followed Andrew who shot thru the toll n kept goin bout another few km b4 he u turned, heh heh Ganes u turned at the toll like we were supposed to so we saw him waiting for us at the turn in to the Bukit Tinggi run.

Started the run, and the two guys were ahead, somewhere i think on the 2nd or 3rd right hand sweeper after the pondok I took a slow entry into the corner, came thru the apex fine but wide on the exit, my speed was probably 40kmh or so. somehow I aligned on the shoulder, ran about 1 or 2 bike lengths on the cow grass n gravelstones then lowsided. hit the road left thumb first, heard it pop, then
my helmet hit.

I got up off the road, killed the engine, took off my gloves, noticed my left thumb swollen like a chiken drumstick, I slowly pulled on the thumb and heard the bones click out, knew then that I had busted it well n good. using leverage i lifted the bike back up n engaged he side stand, checked it for damage, then happily spent a few mins bending back the crash slider n cleaning the grass from the peg.

called Andrew n sms him, eventually he got the message n they came back down. we checked the bike was running n rideable. so i geared back up, minus left glove and we proceded to ride back to KL.

I had to keep the bike in 3rd n 4th gears n half clutch my way, using my left hand fingers as a clutch hook and elbow leverage to pull in the clutch, luckily it was highway almost the whole way back. filtering thru traffic at Batu Caves was lots of fun, and overtaking too. traffic lights were even better!. finally rode back to my apartment n parked the bike.

called up my insurance agent n maxbabe picked me up to go hospital after the clinic confirmed it was a fracture.

Arrived at Pantai Medical emergency and was admitted, x ray confirmed that i had fractured the thumb, it broke off from the first wristbone and dislocated backwards, doctor scheduled me for surgery the next morning.

operation time: general anestetic and one Titanium plate with 3 securing pins and stitches later, i was back in my recovery ward, broke off a part of my tooth so off to orthodontist for repair work on that followed.

Total bill came to almost RM12K.. damn thats expensive for a busted thumb..Luckily for me, my personal accident insurance covered it. Thanks to Great Eastern, n the assistance of my agent, Raymond

Well looks like no riding for 2 months till the thumb is set n the strength back in my hand.

I would like to thank the following:

Maxbabe & Paul
Andrewhtf & GF
David & Peggy
Ron
Ziniac & friend
Kim Foo & GF
My family & Lydia
Ganes ( hope i got ur name spelt right bro)
Raymond my Insurance Agent

and all the rest who wished me a speedy recovery

And now..... The Pix:

Mark, glad to see you are ok.Hopefully the 2 mths recoverywill pass quickly and then you can pursue your career as a concert pianist. It always amazes me just how quickly a mishap can happen irrespective of what speed your travelling at.A micro split second. The incident may also serve as a reminder to others just how important it is to have good medical cover. Its alarming to see how bloody expensive it can be to have even minor surgery.I guess it also highlights the importance of always riding with others and never alone.
Im starting to think that black ZZR is possesed by the devil.
Get well soon Buddy and see you soon bounce

Even Arie? Hey Gary, I don't think the ZZR is devilish, I think everyone is being bugged by the devil. One by one... I just hope everyone is okay...

Hi Khaiharlock/Mark,
How are you now from Last we met you after the Operation? Are you still in the Hospital? Ghee, such a costly affair and the hospi bill for such a minor operation cost rather expensive.Lucky, You that nothing serious and having insurance did help out alot. Sometime have also to check with the insurance as some company does not cover for motor accident and pillion not been insured.Too bad , you won't be in action for next 2-3months. Guess, the safety course that you attended did help you abit during the accident which you did put to use.Anyway, Wish you a speedi recovery and see you back in action and rides.
*Don't think anything to do with the Black ZZR its the rider that can't control d bike. Don't put the blame on the bike. Riding One is bond to meet with an accident someday. So maybe, its not of one of those days that Luck is with you.So always ride safe and gear up. pirat

Font size 5.5????

Mark,
Hope you're recuperating well, ah.. Perhaps, time to consider a clutchless bike like a Gilera for the time being?

Also, if you need to exorcise the demons from your ZZR, do give me a call... I have a couple of "bomohs" in my phonelist.... kah! kah! kah!!
