AhTee's bday coming up.....

If AhTee wasn't pulling my leg, his birthday is coming up on the 17th of this mth. I am thinking of doing something for him, of course he doesn't know about it, but i'm tyring to plan it out soonest possible. Might need Khai's help but he might be started on a job before then, so i need to hv a backup plan as to who will help me carry it out.
It will involve food of course. lol. And if all goes well... you guys are all invited to the makan. Won't be elaborate though, since i am not able to handle it all myself.

I wish to help, but I'm not sure how can I help considering my assignments are piling up, and deadlines are coming nearer. I'll help anyways I can though.

hmm... i cant really imagine AhTee being online and using the internet at all. lol...
Does he hv time? He works 12 hours a day.. plus.. does he hv a puter? hmm...
Anyway.. i will try to get his bday thing going and whoever who is free on Sat is invited for makan.

He was and to some is still considered Spitfires official unofficial mechanic. alot of spitfires had their bikes serviced and repaired by him, and he has helped out on many occasions.

Yes hes not active on this forum, so are most of the ex spitfires, look at the current member list for this forum, how many are active? how many turn up for friday nite TT? how many ride with us on sundays?

Do I care if hes not registered? No!
Do i care if the majority of ex spitfires have not joined this forum? No!
Do i care if our current members are active or not? No!

Do I care that we still bother to keep a forum going, meet on fridays, ride on sundays, and open our doors to everyone? Yes, Yes, Yes and YES!

if we were to discriminate against non spitfires here, non riders, non posters and such things, I dont think that that would be keeping in the spirit of biker brotherhood, or what i seem to recall as the original esprit de corps and camraderie of the old spitfires when i first joined more than five years ago.

To be sure, we are a shell of what the club used to be thats not taking into account the phantoms), But if you concider that we are a new club, then we have a very small membership. with an even smaller active forum membership, less for fridays, and sunday rides i can count the number of bikes on one hand... with fingers to spare quite often.

I for one wont be discriminating against anyone (on or off forum) unless i have a darn good reason.

Mark,since when is this guy considered unofficial or official Spitfires mechanic ? News to me. Suggest you grow up and smell the daisies.Hes a in business to make money.Ur bike break down, he fix for you and you pay him. He fix for you and you dont pay him then see how friendly he remains.He plays with you to keep his business running ,thats all.A very clever marketing ploy.If you want this little club to grow then you need to focus more on active members and generating new members interests rather than sucking up to motor mechanics .Perhaps,u hope that a birthday cake is going to get you a good discount when next you need some repairs done .When u get some time,stand in front of the mirror and look up the definition of "kissing ass"
You want to debate further, happy to .Will be back in Kl on Thursday !! You all need to keep your association with him seperate from this club.If the guy was in any way active on this forum then perhaps it may be a different story.

Debee, Guys normaly dun't have birthday dos unless the Gf gave them hell of a party. Anyway, M not around for the weekend.So count me out.
Gary, maybe you are right about Ah Tee...All he cares is Money and sometimes he do go abit out to rent out his service in a special way like house calls to fix the broken bike at Mark's apartment. Anyway, I had bad time with him. I left a bike for repair and end up having to pay for summon cos he told me MMPj summon him for my bike. If, I left my bike at his workshop, where he parks not my baby but he blame me for d summon and having to fork out RM50 is piss off to me.Never, had I got summons for sending bikes to repair in other workshop.

Well, he has to make a living, but yes.. he has gone out of hs way even late at night after he closed his shop, he came to my hse to fix my bike that couldn't be started at all.
At least he doesnt charge US$120 to change a fork seal that costs not even US$20. Or US$80 to change a tyre.
It's just time to get the mood improved in the PJ group area since the loss of Dicky aka Undertaker.

Yes Gary I am well aware he ia a mechanic, and like all mechanics he is in the business of making a profit, who in business is not?

He has been considered SBF's officially unofficial mechanic as far as i can remember since before the time I ever became a member of Spitfire. i believe he was also a spitfire member from the old forum, and if not was still considered a friend of spitfire, not just any old mechanic

Nobody is saying he is the best mech out there or the cheapest, or that his personailty and way of doing business are beyond reproach. he's human like anyone else.

As for kissing ass? well where i was brought up, common decency and politeness are considered good qualities, celebrating birthdays or just wishing someone well is good manners rather than kissing ass. I would never expect a payback for the giving of a gift or a token or a birthday to be specific. (besides, i am not hosting this, Maxbabe is, and footing the entire bill for it too I might add)

On the issue of focussing on the club or the forum and the members, i think the administrators and active members are doing well so far, we have i think no intention of comparing ourselves to the abilities or scope of other clubs at present and are happy that there is still something holding together what is left of spitfire and its members. AS time passes we hope to improve from our modest beggining. mistakes will be made along the way, thats normal. just keep trying the best we can.

I cant remember the old spitfire clubs charter as the only time i had to invoke any part of it it was the last ill fated AGM which more or less helped kill off the old forum, the club and the spirit of brotherhood that spitfire was know for.

I will not speak for the other SFB members, but as far as i am concerned, i will not discriminate against anyone, nor use this forum in a manner that goes against what I feel is and should be the spirit and camrederie of bikers and the lifestyle. This is my own personal view and anyone is free to view their own opinions.

However, I would think for the sake of the forum, its growth and the benefit of the members, both current and future, it would be better to keep the topics relevant and the manner of posting replies positive and less confrontational. Healty debate is always good though. Important issues should be allowed to be discussed freely without fear or flaming or creating animosity and polarity.

Well, thats all i will say on this issue, and now its time to plan and party!
