Ok... Dragonfly...
Try looking into the Zumo GPS units from Garmin. You need something that can withstand the sun and rain. Also the screen is made to be readable in the sunshine. The built-in bluetooth system allows u to listen to the directions while riding. Also there are brackets to mount onto your bike. If you don't want to spend too much, there are quite a few other brands on the market also. Just need to look for a unit that has maps which are compatible for the system. Look at malsingmaps for more details. There are a few 2nd hand ones for sale there sometimes with maps already loaded in. They also hv TTsessions once in a while where they exchange info. Recently there was a gathering in Subang jaya also.
Garmin is also coming up with a GPS unit with phone. They've taken it one step further and put the phone into the GPS making a really good hp with GPS. That is the highlight that everyone is waiting for. Seems there are good functions in there too.

Thanks alot Max babe, Very Helpful infor and guess have to put on hold till i recover from over spending.You know lah getting riding gears is no joke. Wish, I had a priniting machine to print all the money. Sad

Will check out.Wonder be any cheaper to get from US or ebay.

i have the most reliable & cheap GSP ever...its the oldest model and has been around for ages....heck! even the ancient mariner used it!

Its a compass! And my old trusty has guided me thru many many places...

in my Blurred view, modern days GPS is only useful when u r DRIVING around a city lah! and that too in USA or EU lah...

its stressful enuff driving on left hand side not to worry about "turn left at 400metre....turn left now...." Oops! " Recalculating...turn right at 2kilometre...turn right at 400 metre...turn right at 200 metre...turn right NOW!...oops again! " Recalculating...There's a roundabout in 5kilomtere...there's a roundabout. Take 2right at roundabout..." AHHHHHH!!!!!

dont take the adventure away from getting lost in the Ulus of Laos/Camb/Thailand lah...where got fun like that??? Also how lah to meet local eye candies, on excuse of asking for direction???

Anyway.. the latest news is that www.costco.com has discounts on GPS units. Dragonfly ah... u can hv a look at that website to see if there is anything in your budget.

HMX, you the only person I know who enjoy getting lost.When you lost in the bowels of Laos and venture into the camp of pigmy headhunter cannibals who greet you with open arms ,licking their lips and waste no time to show you there big "empty" boiling pot then we see how much you enjoy Laughing

David.. in that case, you really should join malsingmaps and get as much info as u need from them. They are quite a helpful bunch. A lot of the regulars are in Subang also. And they get together now and then to talk about everything. Also, u don't hv to worry, as long as u contribute to their site and maps.. you will be given free maps for Msia & S'pore. There are bikers in there too, so all your questions will be answered. Zumo is good for all weather and visibility in the sunshine. Also has bluetooth functions.
Join them when u are free.. explain u need maps and that u will be a contributor, and they will be happy to share what they hv with u. They also hv a lot of POI in their logs. If you contribute your POIs, they will give u codes to keep updating your maps. Oh.. currently they are looking for the Durian farm in Gunung Ledang. If you happen to know where it is... they will be very very happy. hahhah...

For my Nuvi, there is a USB charger. U might need more detailed info from the MSM people.

Thanks maximum_babe, M alrdi into Malsing but guess have not met any of them yet.Have met kelvin from Garmin from It mall and had just seen a zumo 500 at his shop.rather expensive and waiting from another guy as he have got no stock.Anyway, internet price cheaper but don't know if its lock to US map.Do you know any member from Malsing? Anyway, will look into after i get back from karabi.
