Yesterday morning, I came across an accident where a Super4 VTEC plowed into a refrigerated van along one of our expressways. I was on my way to work and a few seconds behind when the accident occurred. I tended to the unconscious rider when apparently, everyone else was too afraid to attend to him cos he was lying in the most akward of positions. The rider, a Malay chap in his early 40s, was in very bad shape and was a good 50 metres away from the van while his bike was another 20 metres further up.

The bone in the rider's left leg was exposed & thick blood was coming out from his mouth. Even though the ambulance arrived very quickly, I received news a few hours later that the rider passed away.

For riders, we often believe that after a while of riding a vehicle, we're invicible. This often leads to fatal consequences. Bear in mind that no matter how confident we are with our riding abilities & our bikes, we cannot forget to expect the unexpected and compensate accordingly. In this case, a witness at scene informed that the rider just entered the highway and was riding so fast that he failed to notice the breakdown truck.

Have a safe journey, y'all.
